About the Program

The event featured a cohort of high school and college-age interns (students) from throughout California presenting on careers in the water/stormwater industry.  Also, a panel of leading professionals (from a SF-based community organization, a major wastewater treatment facility and young professional discussed their own "career pathway story" and the roles available at their organizations. These high school and college student presenters received stipends through the San Francisco Human Rights Commission's Opportunities for All program.  Interns were  recruited through special outreach by the CWEA's Student and Young Professionals (SYP) committee in partnership with community-based organizations.

Participants learned about careers in the wastewater industry, and the professionals had opportunity to promote employment with their organization. Participants were invited to be part of the virtual Q&A and network with these talented young individuals in video chat roundtable breakout rooms.

If you are interested in sponsoring an intern (or interns) or to learn more about this SYP-led initiative, please contact Sami Hunkler, SYP Chair at samihunkler@gmail.com or Drew Lehman, Principal, EPICNetwork.org at drewlehmanwork@gmail.com.
