WEFTEC 2018 New Orleans Sep. 29th - Oct. 3rd 2018

The Emerging Water Quality Scholars (EWQS) program was an integrated component of WEFTEC-2018 New Orleans. By leveraging this water industry conference, EWQS was able to provide a unique, stipended, experiential learning opportunity in the water and wastewater industry for a diverse group of promising New Orleans high school and community college students.

 

Through this program, participating students were introduced to the incredible variety of careers in water-related industries (1.7 million jobs in 212 different categories - Brookings, June 2018). There are jobs for people with all skills, at all skill levels.  They just need to know what they can do and what skills training they need to get there.

 

The program was made possible through a partnership between Water Environmental Federation (WEF) Students and Young Professionals Program;  Limitless Vista's Inc., a New Orleans-based non-profit; and Environment and Education.
